Food Security Status
Insecurity Levels:

Roughly 29% of the population is considered food insecure, with 25% of households reporting inadequate food consumption.

Rural vs. Urban:

Food insecurity is higher in rural areas (39%) compared to urban areas (14%), with the highest rates in regions like Janjanbureh and Kuntaur.

Vulnerable Groups:

Women and children are disproportionately affected by malnutrition. Female-headed households are often more vulnerable, although some data shows mixed findings on security.

The sector is crucial for school readiness, with curriculum focused on play and foundational numeracy and lite literacy.

We are convinced that Early chidhood education and modernized farming can contribute emensely in the fight for poverty alleviation in our struggle for national development in the near future. Hence farming is the backbone of the economy of the country, The Gambia, complemented by upgrading the formal educational level of the majority of Gambians.
